Chili Buttered Garlic Shrimp

This is one of my favorite dishes to cook, so I figured I could write the recipe and share it.

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 kg shrimp
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 100 mL Sprite or 7-Up
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch as sauce thickener
  • iodized salt, ground pepper, and ground cayenne pepper to taste

    Procedure:
    1. Melt butter on pan on high heat
    2. Add garlic and saute until you can smell the garlic aroma. Make sure that the garlic doesn't get overcooked (do not toast the garlic)
    3. Add shrimp and cook until shrimp becomes almost orange on both sides
    4. Pour Sprite/7-Up and put pan in medium heat. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
    5. Add cornstarch and let it simmer for another minute or until the sauce becomes slightly thick.
    6. Add salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper to taste
    Notes:
    • You may opt to remove the cornstarch if you wish for the sauce to be thinner
    • You may opt to not add the ground cayenne pepper if you do not want the sauce to be spicy
    • Serves around 2-3 persons
